'SpongeBob SquarePants' Celebrates Oscar Nominees with Parody Movie Posters ---ScRaBBlE

The 91st Academy Awards are being held this weekend, and a certain cartoon sponge is getting hyped for them in a pretty endearing way.

Nickelodeon's official social media accounts for SpongeBob SquarePants recently shared several parody posters, which imagine the various characters in the show's ensemble as the focus of Oscar-nominated movies. You can check them out below.

The parody posters are endearing, ranging from a young Patrick Star serving as the inspiration for A Sea Star is Born, to Squidward channeling his best Emily Blunt in the A Quiet Space poster. There's even a take on Marvel's Black Panther, which earned a historic seven nominations at this year's Oscars.

Regardless of whoever ends up taking home a trophy at Sunday's Oscars, it's hard to deny that the awards play a small part in this year's unique pop culture landscape. SpongeBob is earning its own sort of accolade in 2019 as well, with the Nickelodeon show planning a year-long "Best Year Ever" celebration in honor of the show's 20th anniversary.

“The tiny residents of Bikini Bottom have held the world’s attention for a remarkable 20 years and we owe it all to the monumental creator Stephen Hillenburg,” Ramsey Naito, EVP, Animation Production and Development, Nickelodeon, said in a statement. “This anniversary special is a love letter to everyone in the universe of SpongeBob, from the fans across the globe to the incredible creative team, crew and talent who continue to bring these great characters to life.”

SpongeBob SquarePants is no stranger to movie theatres himself, having already starred in two blockbusters and a third movie, The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge on the way, set to be released in Summer 2020. Nickelodeon also recently revealed plans to spin off the characters from SpongeBob SquarePants into their own stand-alone series, specials and feature-length movies.

The 91st Academy Awards will be held Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 8/7c on ABC.

This role will help in building and improving the brand / digital presence of Nickelodeon’s West Coast Studio by using the power of social media and the web to showcase all the art and talent that goes into bringing Nickelodeon's hit animated shows to life. You will come in ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work creating content, strategizing for several platforms, and leading a collective community of over 2 million fans who LOVE Nick Animation!

- You represent the brand and vision of Nickelodeon to our current/potential talent and online audience

- Lead the Nick Animation social media presence
-- i.e. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumblr, etc.

- You will program and produce content for Videowall screens

- Supervise updates and content for nickanimation.com

- You lead department team members in day to day activities and tasks

- Build meaningful relationships with artists and employees across studio

Specific Duties

- Plan and program content calendar for @nickanimation social media pages

- You gather original content from daily studio life and major tentpole events for social media, Videowalls, website, etc.

- Ideate, produce, and edit videos showcasing the culture and talent of the studio

- You lead coordination with Nick Archives to curate and share legacy content online

- Partner with Nick Community Efforts team to showcase work in local communities

- Perform community management and fan engagement on social accounts


- You lead and continually update all content on nickanimation.com

- Produce artwork for studio Videowall screens and email-distributed flyers to effectively communicate studio updates and highlights to employees

- Lead monthly “Being Social” newsletter production and distribution

- You run and execute various studio culture initiatives, i.e. Culture+231 meetings, #SundayScribbles video series, etc.

- Serve as day-to-day supervisor for department interns

- Process various financial obligations, i.e. POs, invoices, vendor services, etc.

- Organize and maintain department servers

- You develop and maintain excellent relationships across the studio with staff, artists, writers and talent for various social, cultural and departmental needs

- Stay up to date with the latest trends in animation, social media, digital tools, etc.

- Support dept. Director in streamlining department workflows and productivity

Basic Qualifications

- 4+ years leading a brand's social media and digital community presence

- Excellent working knowledge of social media platforms and trends, preferably for a brand or studio

- Excellent knowledge of Nickelodeon’s past and present shows

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Additional Qualifications

- Positive and enthusiastic attitude

- Diligent multi-tasker

- Passionate about animation and art

- Ability to work in fast-paced department and produce quick turnarounds

- Works well under pressure, balancing multiple projects

- Excellent interpersonal skills and relational abilities

- Strong leadership and presentation skills

Nickelodeon Rebrands NickSplat as NickRewind ---ScRaBBlE

The Orange Cassette Tape is Back!

Nickelodeon USA has rebranded the network's official NickSplat YouTube channel, the official YouTube destination for the most loved Nick content from the 1990s and beyond, as NickRewind! It's currently unknown whether Nickelodeon will also rebrand its late night NickSplat programming block on TeenNick, its SVoD channel on VRV, and its official social media pages on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest as NickRewind, however, Nickelodeon registered the @NickRewind handle on Twitter in September 2018.

Like NickSplat, NickRewind will celebrates classic Nickelodeon programming, with clips from beloved Nickelodeon shows from the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s being uploaded to the channel every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The channel's description reads:

"The NickRewind channel is the OFFICIAL home of your favorite ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s cartoons and shows. That’s right—we’re talking all of your slime-covered Nickelodeon childhood dreams come true! Tune in every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for exclusive digital content from all of your throwback favorites like Rugrats, Hey Arnold, iCarly, Victorious, Kenan & Kel, CatDog, Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life, The Amanda Show, Clarissa Explains It All, Ren & Stimpy, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and so much more!"

Update (3/18) - Nickelodeon will rebrand the NickSplat programming block as NickRewind tonight (Monday, March 18, 2019)! Nickelodeon has also updated the social media handles (usernames) of the blocks' official social media channels:

Instagram - @nickrewind

Update (3/17) - In the description of their latest video, NickRewind has put "Catch more CatDog on NickRewind, every night on TEENNICK", which suggests that NickSplat (the TV block) is planning to rebrand as NickRewind in the near future. Additionally, NickRewind has updated most of NickSplat's shortened URL's to NickRewind-themed ones.

Nickelodeon Rewind is already an established brand name for Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon Rewind was originally a collection of DVDs and merchandise that featured classic Nickelodeon television shows such as Clarissa Explains It All, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, and You Can't Do That on Television. After being launched in 2005, Nick Rewind entered the realm of television airings with the "Nick Rewind" programming block that featured on Nickelodeon during the Summer of 2006. Following a hiatus, with the exception of some Amazon DVD releases, the brand was relaunched in June 2010 when a Nickelodeon Rewind feature appeared on Comcast through OnDemand, featuring episodes of The Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold!, Doug, The Ren and Stimpy Show, and Rugrats. The on-demand feature was later added to Verizon Fios, DirecTV and Cablevision. In 2011, Nickelodeon Rewind went mainstream with the release of DVDs through Shout! Factory and The '90s Are All That block of TeenNick.

Nick Rewind will be the fourth rebrand for Nick's classic Nickelodeon initiative, beginning with The '90s Are All That in July 2011, which then became The Splat in October 2015, followed by a rebrand to NickSplat in May 2017.

The NickRewind YouTube channel serves up new videos throughout the week every week featuring all of your favorite childhood shows, and even some you forgot you remember.

Nickelodeon is in the midst of reviving some of the network's most popular shows. Rugrats for example, is being rebooted for not only a Nickelodeon TV show, but a CGI/live-action movie as well. Nickelodeon also announced that Rocko's Modern Life would be returning to the network with a TV movie, as well as Invader Zim, which will likely be getting its TV movie in 2019. Nickelodeon also revived Legends of the Hidden Temple and Hey Arnold! for TV movies, which aired in 2016 and 2017, respectively, and has also revived Double Dare. Nickelodeon is also in the planning stages to revive Clarissa Explains It All and Are You Afraid of the Dark? as a movie and miniseries, and will be reviving All That with a all-new cast as well as old favorites in Summer 2019.

The news also follows Nickelodeon launching a Nick Hits SVoD channel on Amazon in February 2019.
