The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon won five awards in this year’s Kidscreen Awards, with the network's hit animated series SpongeBob SquarePants earning four of the awards!

Additionally, Studio AKA's Hey Duggee, which airs on Nick Jr. USA and Jonathan M. Shiff Productions' The Bureau of Magical Things, which airs on Nickelodeon channels globally also picked up awards at the Kidscreen Awards 2019!
Celebrating the year’s best work in kids production, broadcasting and digital media, the winners of the 2019 Kidscreen Awards were revealed during a prestigious ceremony hosted by actor and comedian Craig Lauzon on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, during the 2019 Kidscreen Summit, in Miami, Florida. The awards were exclusively sponsored by the Canada Media Fund.

PARIS/LONDON – FEB. 14 2019 – STUDIOCANAL, Nickelodeon and award-winning producer David Heyman today announced a global deal for a brand-new “Paddington” (working title) television series for preschoolers. Actor Ben Whishaw (Paddington 1 & 2) will reprise his role as the beloved voice of the title character in the new CG-animated series, which follows the adventures of a younger Paddington. “Paddington” will air on Nickelodeon’s networks worldwide in 2020, while local broadcast partners will be secured in France, Canada, China and Japan.
Fully animated in 3D, the new “Paddington” series sees a younger Paddington writing to Aunt Lucy from Windsor Gardens. Each episode will open and close with Paddington’s letters as he tells Aunt Lucy what he has learned about life through the day’s new exciting adventure. The series will invite a new generation of fans into Paddington’s world full of heart, kindness, slapstick humour, fun and generosity.
Currently in production, “Paddington” is a Heyday Films and STUDIOCANAL production in association with Copyrights. “Paddington” is helmed by Adam Shaw of Blue Zoo (Go Jetters, Digby Dragon, Miffy, Q Pootle 5), and developed for television and written by Jon Foster and James Lamont (The Amazing World of Gumball, Cuckoo, Paddington1 & 2).

Nickelodeon has secured a global deal with STUDIOCANAL and award-winning producer David Heyman for a brand-new Paddington series for preschoolers!

Nickelodeon Russia (Россия) will premiere the brand-new CG-animated preschool series 44 Cats on Monday 18th February 2019! Created and directed by Iginio Straffi, the founder of Italian content powerhouse Rainbow Group, the makers of Winx Club and Regal Academy, and produced by Rainbow in collaboration with Antoniano Bologna and Rai Ragazzi, Nickelodeon will air two new episodes of 44 Cats, locally titled 44 котёнка, everyday, at 8:25am MCK and 8:35am MCK respectively.
Set in the world of animals, 44 Cats (52 eps x c. 13') follows the daily adventures of Lampo, Milady, Pilou, and Meatball – four adorable kittens who are part of a music band named The Buffycats (Кис-кис-коты).
The protagonists live and play in the Clubhouse, a garage beside old Granny Pina’s house. Their adventures explore the themes of friendship and altruism: the four cats love helping others and always find creative solutions to everyday hitches and help other cats in need. The series promotes positive attitudes and conveys educational messages dealing with important themes such as tolerance, diversity and solidarity in a funny way.
This eagerly anticipated show made its world debut on Rai Yoyo in Italy on Monday 12th November 2018. Nickelodeon International acquired the broadcast rights to the series in May 2018, and will roll the animated series out on Nickelodeon channels and branded blocks around the world, excluding in the U.S. and Latin America, throughout 2019.
44 Cats is inspired by the very popular Italian kids song "44 Gatti", which, in 1968, won the 10th edition of the Zecchino d'Oro and has since entered the collective imagination of Italians.
44 Cats is the first Rainbow Group production jointly developed with Bardel Entertainment, the Canadian animation studio it acquired in 2015, and jointly produced in collaboration with Antoniano Bologna and Rai Ragazzi, and combines great music and edutainment with high quality animation. The series also marks Rainbow’s (Winx Club (Клуб Винкс), Regal Academy (Королевская Академия), Mia and me, Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends) inaugural foray into preschool programming.
Rainbow inked a licensing deal for 44 Cats with Thai Group’s Hong Kong-based company, Toy Plus in August 2018. Under the terms of the agreement, Toy Plus will develop a variety of products including interactive plush, figurines, play sets, musical toys and more based on the music, creative play patterns and collectability featured in the series. The line of merchandise debuted in Hong Kong in October, and is slated to become available for purchase around the world in fall 2019.
Rainbow has also secured a new licensing deal for 44 Cats with holistic lifestyle company Artsana Group. Under the agreement, the company will develop a range of licensed 44 Cats-themed infant educational toys for infants and a nursing line under its Chicco brand, the largest infant brand in Europe. The deal also includes apparel and accessories collections by Prenatal and Chicco. Products are expected to hit retail shelves later this year and will be supported by a dedicated, high-level marketing campaign delivered jointly by Rainbow and Artsana Group, which is also based in Italy.

Nickelodeon Iberia will premiere the brand-new CG-animated preschool series 44 Cats on Monday 18th February 2019! Created and directed by Iginio Straffi, the founder of Italian content powerhouse Rainbow Group, the makers of Winx Club and Regal Academy, and produced by Rainbow in collaboration with Antoniano Bologna and Rai Ragazzi, Nickelodeon will launch 44 Cats by airing the first two episodes of the all-new series at 16:25 on Nickelodeon Portugal and at 17:25 on Nickelodeon Spain (España). Following launch, Nickelodeon will continue to air brand-new episodes of 44 Cats daily at 16:25 on Nickelodeon Portugal and at 17:25 on Nickelodeon España. Each ll-new episode will encore regularly on Nick. 44 Cats is locally titled 44 Gatos in Spain.
Set in the world of animals, 44 Cats (52 eps x c. 13') follows the daily adventures of Lampo, Milady, Pilou, and Meatball – four adorable kittens who are part of a music band named The Buffycats.
The protagonists live and play in the Clubhouse, a garage beside old Granny Pina’s house. Their adventures explore the themes of friendship and altruism: the four cats love helping others and always find creative solutions to everyday hitches and help other cats in need. The series promotes positive attitudes and conveys educational messages dealing with important themes such as tolerance, diversity and solidarity in a funny way.
This eagerly anticipated show made its world debut on Rai Yoyo in Italy on Monday 12th November 2018. Nickelodeon International acquired the broadcast rights to the series in May 2018, and will roll the animated series out on Nickelodeon channels and branded blocks around the world, excluding in the U.S. and Latin America, throughout 2019.
44 Cats is inspired by the very popular Italian kids song "44 Gatti", which, in 1968, won the 10th edition of the Zecchino d'Oro and has since entered the collective imagination of Italians.
44 Cats is the first Rainbow Group production jointly developed with Bardel Entertainment, the Canadian animation studio it acquired in 2015, and jointly produced in collaboration with Antoniano Bologna and Rai Ragazzi, and combines great music and edutainment with high quality animation. The series also marks Rainbow’s (Winx Club, Regal Academy, Mia and me, Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends) inaugural foray into preschool programming.
Rainbow inked a licensing deal for 44 Cats with Thai Group’s Hong Kong-based company, Toy Plus in August 2018. Under the terms of the agreement, Toy Plus will develop a variety of products including interactive plush, figurines, play sets, musical toys and more based on the music, creative play patterns and collectability featured in the series. The line of merchandise debuted in Hong Kong in October, and is slated to become available for purchase around the world in fall 2019.
Rainbow has also secured a new licensing deal for 44 Cats with holistic lifestyle company Artsana Group. Under the agreement, the company will develop a range of licensed 44 Cats-themed infant educational toys for infants and a nursing line under its Chicco brand, the largest infant brand in Europe. The deal also includes apparel and accessories collections by Prenatal and Chicco. Products are expected to hit retail shelves later this year and will be supported by a dedicated, high-level marketing campaign delivered jointly by Rainbow and Artsana Group, which is also based in Italy.

Nickelodeon estrena la serie de animación italiana “44 Gatos”
El lunes 18 de febrero a las 17:25h en doble episodio llega a Nickelodeon #44Gatos, la nueva serie de animación protagonizada por Lampo, Milady, Pilou y Albóndiga: los cuatro mininos más divertidos de la televisión. Juntos forman la banda de música “Los Buffycats”, con la que cada noche transforman el garaje donde viven en el “Clubhouse”, un lugar al que todos los gatos del vecindario van con ganas de pasarlo en grande. Eso sí, por el día son unos auténticos héroes que recorren la ciudad dispuestos a ayudar a cualquier animal o humano que éste en problemas, ¡nada se les resiste gracias a sus curiosos “poderes”!
Lampo es un auténtico líder, pero desafortunadamente a veces mete a sus amigos en problemas. Sin embargo, tiene un poder especial: sus bigotes le dan pistas para saber si la solución a los problemas es la correcta. Milady sabe que alguien miente cuando su pelo se vuelve rosa. Y Pilou con su dulce mriada hipnotiza a los malos y los convierte en buenos. El don de Albóndiga es ayudar a sus amigos a estar en alerta porque… ¡cada vez que come espaguetis con albóndigas significa que el peligro está cerca!
Todos ellos viven en la casa de Pina, una amable abuelita que les alimenta, les cocina y se preocupa como si fueran sus hijos. Además, a lo largo de la temporada, lse conocerán hasta 44 personajes: 40 gatos, otros animales e incluso humanos que se unirán a su equipo para resolver divertidos retos o que, por el contrario, pedirán ayuda a estos “Buffycats” cuando lo necesiten. Nickelodeon USA will host the network premiere of the hit movie Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (2011) on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT!
In Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, the vacationing Chipmunks and Chipettes are turning a luxury cruise liner into their personal playground; until they accidentally go overboard and become 'chipwrecked' on a remote tropical paradise. As the 'Munks and Chipettes scheme to find their way home; they accidentally discover their new turf is not as deserted as it seems...
Following the debut of Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, Nick UK will encore the live action/CG-animated blockbuster the same day at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Nick Jr. Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) will premiere Becca's Bunch, a brand-new animated preschool series that follows the adventures of a unique little bird who has a big heart on Monday 4th March 2019 at 10:30am CET! Following launch, Becca's Bunch will continue to air weekdays at 10:30am CET on Nick Jr. CEE.
In Wagtail Woods a little bird called Becca and her bunch of friends are always ready for action! Becca has a innate curiosity and a wonderful way of looking at things. She sees adventure in every situation and as a result often bites off more than she can chew, landing herself and the bunch - Russell, Sylvia and Pedro - in some sticky situations. Thinking on her feet, Becca will urge a generation of kids never to give up, aim high and have big ideas, because once they do every day will be an adventure!
From her quirky dress sense to her hobbies, Becca is a bird like no other and chirps to her own tune. Her can-do attitude allows her big ideas to take flight on the most fantastical adventures with her three best friends. Becca’s infectious enthusiasm encourages her besties, aka The Wild Bunch, to seek out adventure in Wagtail Woods and boldly go where no bird, worm, squirrel and fox have gone before. The Wild Bunch haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on Becca’s list! With unique ideas, heart and positive thinking, the gang always manage to overcome any challenge they encounter in Wagtail Woods.
Becca's Bunch is an exciting, new entertainment show for preschoolers which merges live action, puppetry and 2D and 3D animation to create a textured world that the audience will want to reach out and touch!

Becca's Bunch (52 x 11') is produced by Dublin-based creative production, distribution and licensing company JAM Media. Nickelodeon acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the series in the US and Pay TV rights for the rest of the world in October 2016. Becca's Bunchmade its debut on Nick Jr. UK & Ireland on Monday 2nd July 2018, and will roll out the series onto Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels around the world in the coming months. In addition, terrestrial broadcasters ABC Australia, CBC Kids (Canada) and France Télévisions (France) have picked up the series for their respective countries.
Talking about the series, Nickelodeon Senior Vice President (SVP) of International Production and Development Nina Hahn says the project was introduced to her and Nick’s Vice President (VP) of Content Acquisitions, Layla Lewis, at a very early stage. And it was love at first sight.
“[JAM Media] showed us the short even before they did the formal pitch into our larger group, which allowed us to give them feedback from multiple different filters on what we wanted to see,” Hahn says. “The content itself had a lot of the DNA of Nickelodeon, from the visual quirkiness, to the way the characters were developed and its strong female lead at the center. It really tapped into the kind of broad, emotional and simple ideas that we like to work with.”
Jam Media, which has studios in both Dublin and Belfast in Northern Ireland, pitched the series at Cartoon Forum in 2013 under the title Early Bird.
The news follows JAM Media naming JAKKS Pacific as the global master toy licensee for Becca’s Bunch. JAKKS has secured the exclusive global rights to produce figurines, playsets and accessories, vehicles, musical instruments, plush (feature and non-feature), every day dress-up, role play, arts & crafts, board games and accessories, Halloween costumes and accessories, outdoor/indoor furniture, wagons, ride-ons, play tents, ball pits, balls and outdoor games, all based on the spritely bird and her group of animal friends. Plush, figurines, musical instruments, vehicles and playsets are planned for a Fall 2019 launch at US retail. JAKKS joins previously signed Becca’s Bunch licensees Candlewick Press, which has taken publishing rights for the US, and Egmont, which is signed on for publishing in the rest of the world. Both companies are planning a Fall 2019 retail launch in key territories.
